Mother’s Day is just around the corner. As everyone gets ready for it, buying their gift cards, presents, and cards, I’m reminded just how important this day is for some of us.
It has been 3 years since I said goodbye to the most Amazing person I had ever known. Mother’s Day, up until she died, was not a day on my radar. I would buy the cards for my Mom and my wife and give a gift here and there in appreciation but the significance was lost on me. Don’t get me wrong, I did appreciate all the tireless and thankless things they do but it didn’t sink in until my mother was gone. I had lost a security blanket that I didn’t even know I had.
My mother and I spoke every day. She was my cheerleader. The rock of my emotions. The one person I knew would always be there for me. No one in my life had more barring on how I felt about myself then she did. She lifted me to heights, I didn’t think I could reach. She would have you believe that you could do anything you want, if you put you mind to it. She had this quiet dignity and strength that still inspires me today. She sacrificed everything for her children and taught us how to love unconditionally and give everything you have to everyone else. This little blurb does not do my mother the proper justice that she deserves for the impact she had on me and everyone else around her.
I realize that not everyone is fortunate enough to have had a Mother like mine, but regardless. Mother’s Day is day to give your Mother all your gratitude for the things they do for you. Even the things you’re not aware of yet! I hope this is a reminder for you that your Mother will not always be here and that you hold them tight and give love and thanks for everything they do. Happy Mother’s Day!
